The Studio
Red Line Design is a full service interior design, art and fine art photography studio in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. The studio was founded in 1999 in Chicago, Illinois and was originally named for the Red Line EL (elevated) train that ran through the Wrigleyville neighborhood where Sarah lived. She would take the EL train to work in downtown Chicago and loved the sound the train made on the tracks as it passed her condo each day. On one trip in the middle of cold Chicago winter, with frozen tears running down her cheeks, she dreamed of one day living in warm, sunny California. Fast forward many years - the studio name has stayed constant and moved with Sarah to Reno/Tahoe and now - dream come true - Los Angeles.
Sarah Stevenson, Principal + Creative Director
Sarah Stevenson is the Principal and Creative Director of Red Line Design a full service interior design studio in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Sarah holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Interior Design. She is an NCIDQ (National Council of Interior Design Qualification) certificate holder and has proven expertise in understanding and applying current building codes established to protect public health, safety, and welfare for interior design.
Interior Design was introduced to her by her aunt, who was a lead graphic designer at the Australian National Gallery. A deep love of architecture, design and creativity formed through this introduction and remains a huge source of inspiration in her work today. Sarah was born and raised in Australia, moved to the US at age 10 and maintains strong family ties to her homeland but identifies Chicago as her US home.
Most of Sarah’s career was spent in Chicago working for some of the industries largest interior design and architectural firms. With a background in corporate fortune 500 interior design and architecture Sarah brings a strategic, collaborative, respectful approach to all her design projects. She is most concerned with marrying both the client and architectural vision in her projects and strives to maintain a strong balance to the surrounding natural landscape.
When she is not in the studio you can find her creating black and white photography, painting mixed media art, trying out new restaurants in her neighborhood and escaping to Malibu for a restful, quiet moment at the beach with her labradoodle Louie and her two daughters - Leah and Emily.

Emily Stevenson, Studio Assistant
Emily Stevenson is an Office and Editorial Assistant for Red Line Design Studio. She primarily works on editing all website content and performs other studio maintenance duties. Emily is currently studying at Boston University, majoring in Journalism with a minor in Art History. When she isn’t studying or editing, Emily loves to read, cook, and create her own mixed media art inspired by her mom’s beautiful work.
